My son Nick was considering purchasing an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Sara. I heard a Diamond Vault commercial on the radio while driving and called them immediately for more information. From Devastation to Realization to Exhilaration…
I was devastated when I realized that my center diamond was missing from my wedding ring. I looked at the empty space with an impending sense of dread. I immediately called my husband and, in a sobbing, voice explained what had happened. He tried to assure me that as long as I was alright, everything would work out.
I spent that afternoon in my third grade classroom, skimming the floor for the missing diamond. My third graders attempted to help out, but we found nothing.
Then, in June, I walked into the Diamond Vault. Truly, that was when my world began to brighten substantially. I realized that there were two experts ready and willing to help me. Mark showed me a large selection of diamonds. I decided to upgrade from about 1/2 carat to over one carat. Mark suggested that I go with a six prong setting rather than a four prong because the diamond would be more secure. He explained that my ring could be re-sized and a new setting put in place with the other existing diamonds. I realized that something very awful could become something very new and exciting. Then Mark and Pat assured me that if I left my old ring settings with them, (the engagement ring and wedding rings), they would have the new diamond placed into the setting and have an in depth appraisal completed on the ring. They said that the whole ordeal would take about one week.
Now for the “Once Upon a Time” portion of the story:
About four days after my trip into the Diamond Vault, my husband Bryson invited me to dinner. We went to this quaint little restaurant on the North side of town. We ordered a fine bottle of wine and enjoyed a spectacular meal. Then our waiter came by and told us that desert was included with our meal. He came back with a silver covered platter and placed it in the center of the table. My husband of 17 years got on his knees and thanked me for the wonderful years together. He told me he would marry me all over again and in fact asked me to spend another 17 years with him. As he said these words, the cover was taken off the “desert tray” and there was my original wedding/engagement ring with a brand new beautiful (large too) diamond right in the middle. I felt such a sense of exhilaration and happiness. With tear-filled eyes of utter exhilaration, I placed the new ring on my finger.
I found out later that Pat had helped my husband to be the romantic man that is there, but that I don’t often see. Thanks Mark and Pat, you helped us turn a sad situation into a marvelous one. You are, I am convinced, angels on earth. Sincerely,
